“Whether or not you voted for me, I want to hear your voice.”

– President Barack Obama, Inauguration speech

Change

What am I believing in?

The change that is used in politics?

The change that I can apply to myself?

The change that brings a smile to my face?

The change that will chain my soul?

Yes, I want to change.

I want to be happy.

I want to be loving,

Letting go of the things I hate.

I hate to be in poverty

My hand’s tired of punching a timecard

For three decades I have been working,

My tour of duty in this life,

Till the day I die…

Oh, the change I need to have

Versus the change I have heard

Several times in my life --

President Clinton to Obama.

The overnight change:

An American becomes homeless

Started one, two, three,

Then thousands upon thousands become homeless

Waves after waves of homes ebb away

Never thought I would see this day…

But there is one thing unchanged,

My faith in God and Country.

America.
